Public coverage for incontinence supplies depends on where you live, your medical needs, and each program’s approval and supplier rules. Choose your province or territory below, then confirm your coverage before placing an order.

People receiving B.C. income or disability assistance may be able to request help with medically necessary supplies. Ask the Ministry whether your specific incontinence products can be approved; routine briefs are not guaranteed by the general guidance.
Families caring for children with complex health needs can also review the At Home Program.
Alberta’s Aids to Daily Living (AADL) program lists incontinence supplies, including diapers and catheters. A health professional must assess the client, and AADL uses approved products and vendors. Most clients have a cost share; some are exempt.
Saskatchewan Supplementary Health Benefits are available to certain eligible groups, including some people receiving SAID or Saskatchewan Income Support. The current benefits page lists incontinence aids but excludes pads and incontinence briefs.
Manitoba Employment and Income Assistance may support a prescribed need for ongoing medical supplies, including adult or child incontinence supplies for people with special needs. Requests are assessed through the Disability and Health Supports Unit. Manitoba Home Care may arrange supplies for eligible clients with an open Home Care file.
ODSP’s Mandatory Special Necessities benefit may cover eligible, medically necessary incontinence supplies. Dignity Healthcare Canada Inc., which operates DignityPlus, is a registered ODSP vendor. Eligibility, required forms, authorized items and payment steps are still determined by ODSP. Ontario children and youth with qualifying chronic disabilities may be eligible for the Incontinence Supplies Grant. The grant is paid to families, who can buy supplies from any store. Check the grant’s eligibility and application process, then shop DignityPlus for eligible products.
Quebec’s Material Assistance Program for Elimination Functions provides certain supplies, including incontinence briefs, to people who meet its disability-related criteria. Eligible supplies are generally provided directly; the program does not offer retroactive reimbursement for products already purchased.
New Brunswick’s Health Services Ostomy/Incontinence Program covers specific supplies for people who meet its criteria. Incontinence supplies are restricted to clients confined to a wheelchair or bed, or with ostomy or catheterization needs; the program uses an approved list and may require medical justification.
Nova Scotia Income Assistance can consider certain special needs, but the public information reviewed here does not confirm routine coverage for adult incontinence briefs. Ask your caseworker whether your medical circumstances and supplies can be considered before purchasing.
PEI has an Ostomy Supplies Program for eligible residents with a permanent ostomy. That is separate from routine coverage for incontinence briefs and pads. Ask Health PEI or your insurer whether your specific supplies qualify for any assistance.
Newfoundland and Labrador Income Support clients may be eligible for medical equipment and supplies through the Special Assistance Program. Ask whether the supplies you need, including briefs or pads, qualify and whether approval is required before purchase.
Yukon’s Chronic Disease and Disability Benefits Program may help with the cost of some medical-surgical supplies. Ask the program whether the specific incontinence products you need are eligible and whether you need approval before buying.
The Northwest Territories Extended Health Benefits program may help eligible residents with non-insured medical needs, including medical supplies and equipment. Eligibility and cost-sharing depend on the plan. Ask whether incontinence briefs or pads are covered and confirm approval before ordering.
Nunavut has Extended Health Benefits for eligible residents with specified conditions, including coverage for some prescribed medical supplies and appliances. Eligible First Nations and Inuit clients may also have NIHB coverage. Ask whether the products you need qualify and confirm approval and supplier rules before buying.
Veterans Affairs Canada: Eligible veterans may have approved incontinence supplies covered through treatment benefits. Confirm authorization and supplier arrangements with VAC before ordering. Search VAC treatment benefits.
Private insurance: Extended health plans and health spending accounts vary. Ask your insurer whether briefs, pads or other supplies are eligible and what documentation they need.
